Segen Mehreteab
Hello! My name is Segen Mehreteab (she/her) and I am a Black Woman in Mississauga. After various lived and work experiences, I found an immovable desire to make change work related to social justice my career- and began my MSW at Laurier. My driving passion is in environmental justice, challenging the racism within climate change and connecting youth from urban centres to nature- a space that has been made inaccessible and even hostile to marginalized groups. I am a firm advocate of anti-oppressive work and practicing in critical and innovative ways that move towards equity and social transformation.

Transformation is exciting, but it’s also vulnerable and scary as hell. Shopping can be awful, especially for those of us who know the trauma of living in a marginalized body. Sometimes we just need someone to be our dance mom, or our side-eyeing bff, or the eyes of that cutie on the street that just...sees us!
